7Song will be teaching for three days on the topics of Herbal Pharmacy and Formulation, Respiratory Ailments, and Advanced Clinical Herbalism, Case studies and in-person consultations.
7Song is a clinical herbalist, teacher, botanist and naturalist. He is the director and main instructor of the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine. He is a founder, a practicing herbalist and the Director of Holistic Medicine at the Ithaca Free Clinic, an integrative clinic providing free consultations and herbal medicine for the larger community.
7Song has been active in herbal first aid for many years working at clinics, first aid stations and as a street medic. One of his teaching goals is demonstrating how herbal medicine can offer primary and adjunct treatments for acute and chronic health conditions. He practices an integrative approach working alongside conventional and holistic practitioners. He aspires to make herbal medicine accessible, affordable and within reach of everyone.
Day 1: Herbal Pharmacy and Formulation
This class will cover preparing botanical medicines as well as developing individual formulas for specific patients and conditions. We will discuss how to prepare tinctures, glycerites and oils as well as other herbal preparations. We will look at the ratios and measurements used in these preparations and how to divide a formula into parts. The goal of this class is for participants to gain an understanding on how to prepare a variety of herbal medicines and how to formulate individual medicines. There will also be medicine making demonstrations in this class
Day 2: An Herbalist’s View of Respiratory Ailments: Infections, Allergies and other Lung Conditions.
This class will look at the physiology of the respiratory system and how to improve overall lung health. We will cover a number of common ailments such as asthma, respiratory viruses and coughs. There will be a focus on some of the useful herbal categories including tonics, antiinflammatories and antimicrobials. We will discuss specific plants, formulations, and treatment strategies for these conditions.
Day 3: Advanced-Clinical Herbalism, case studies and in-person consultations
The class will cover strategies in assessing and working with individuals during a consultation. This includes the initial intake, useful questions, preparing treatment protocols, educating patients and getting to the root of health care problems. It will also focus on clinical skills such as counselling skills, communication, and maintaining boundaries.
**Early Bird pricing $225 if you register by July 8th** Standard Price is $250 for three days. However, if you are only able to attend Sat and Sun only, the price is $200, If can attend on Monday only, price is $100.
This class will be available on Zoom (live) and in-person (limited number). In-person classes will be held in an outdoor setting located about 20 minutes south of Bellingham, WA at Wildroot Botanicals. We will be using COVID safety recommendations for the county and state.
